Cogmed Working Memory Training

Does your child or adolescent have difficulties with focusing, organization, initiating or completing tasks, or forgetting instructions?  These problems are often associated with a working memory deficit, common in people with attentional difficulties.

Cogmed Working Memory Training is an evidence-based program for helping children, adolescents, and adults improve attention by training their working memory.  This program has strong scientific research support and can be done in the convenience of your own home under the supervision of a qualified Cogmed Coach.   Research studies show substantial and long lasting improvement in attention following this training. The program includes the following:

  • Initial Interview
  • Start-up Session
  • Five weeks of training at home with weekly coach calls
  • Wrap-up meeting
  • Six month-follow-up interview
  • Access to the Cogmed Training Web
  • Cogmed Extension Training (12 months)

Benefits of the program include improved sustained attention, improved impulse control, better complex reasoning skills, and better academic performance. Parents and teachers also report children have improved social skills, take initiative, remember instructions, and complete assignments more independently.
