Mary LaScala, partner and co-owner of Chapel Hill Pediatric Psychology, is a licensed marriage and family therapist offering skill-based relationship counseling. She holds an M.S. in Child Development and Family Relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is a member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Ms. LaScala’s educational background in child development and family relations is the cornerstone of her skill-based clinical practice. She is a cognitive behavioral therapist with extensive experience treating children, adolescents, young adults, couples, and families.
Having special expertise in parent education, she conducts workshops at the CHPP office, as well as local schools, places of worship, libraries, and community centers. She has discussed parenting issues on national and regional television programs, such as NBC’s Today Show and WRAL’s Family Focus.
Her primary treatment focus is to build competency in communication, problem-solving and coping skills. She works with individual clients of all ages with varying clinical concerns, including anxiety and depression.
Areas of treatment specialty are parent-child relationships and preserving the integrity of the couple during parenting. Her collaborative approach with clients builds the necessary skills to achieve practical outcomes for success.
